Stand Against Hate

I have spoken out multiple times on the horrors of school shootings. And I've spoken a few times about shootings in places of worship. There's a synagogue I visit from time to time nearby - they are always very welcoming to me, and I even took our youth group once for Shabbat. Their rabbi spent a lot of time talking to our youth, and their members were simply delightful. I follow their facebook page, and my heart sank when I saw they are hosting an active-shooter seminar in response to the most recent shooting in a Jewish congregation. Friends, we have to do better when it comes to speaking out against hate. For Christians, we have a particular need to speak out against hate for other religions. We ought to strongly condemn anti-semitism and islamaphobia. I'm heartbroken at lives lost because of hate and ignorance and white supremacy. And I'm so sad that our Jewish friends down the road have to amp up their security when they worship and prepare for this kind of terror. To my Jewish family and friends, know I love you, and I will stand with you against hate.
