Some Friendly Advice from a Chaplain

"It's always too early... until it's too late." 💔

Y'ALL. I have sat with so many people in the last couple of weeks whose spouses died unexpectedly in the hospital. It is such a horrible shock, and these circumstances are NEVER easy. But please, please, please - let me give you three pieces of advice to make it all a little easier... Right now is NOT too early to have these conversations:

1) Have life insurance for you and your spouse. You don't want one of the worst days of your life to be compounded by financial worries about how you will afford to bury your spouse.
2) Talk about funeral homes - and if you'd rather be buried traditionally or be cremated. I sat with a wife recently who was heartbroken having to make that choice alone, not knowing what her husband would have wanted.
3) Fill out an advanced directive. I'm being trained on that, and I can help you start having those conversations. Please, please, please reach out if you want me to help you start thinking about any of these things.

Love,
Your chaplain friend Dallas ❤️
